The Challenge

Formed in 2013, The Gig Company organises fundraising musical events featuring high profile artists. It commissioned us to design their logo and extended brand identity. We were briefed to create an identity that was bold, energetic and vibrant, and representative of their role as charity fundraisers working in the music industry. Following the work we undertook on their brand identity, The Gig Company approached us to design their website. The brief was to create a logical and clean interface that showcases their events while also providing detailed content on the work they do.

The Solution

It was decided that the logo had to make a nod to the music, but we were careful to stay away from cheesy emblems of music and money coming together, so we created the plectrum design; relatively ambiguous to some, but iconic to those that take music more seriously.It was also important that the brand wouldn’t contrast or stand out too much from the charities’ identities that the logo had to sit alongside. To pre-empt any clashes with individual events, we created a suite of logos in multiple colours, from which one could be selected to compliment the colour palette of each event’s identity.

We held two workshops for the website. The first was to establish the most suitable architecture for the site, as it was to cater to multiple audiences; those looking to buy tickets for events, potential clients, and journalists looking for coverage of past events. The second workshop was related to content; choosing images that would engage visitors and support the copy for the different sections. The result is a vibrant, modern, accessible and responsive website with integrated analytics and CRM system.
